About Holyfamily Forona Church
This is a parish which belongs to the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church under the
Diocese of Idukki. It was founded in 1955 with Fr.Jacob Manchappilly as the
first Vicar. At present there are 331 Catholic families with 1460 members as
parishioners. This is the home parish of late Mar Mathew Anikuzhikkattil, the
first bishop of Idukki. This area is extended in the valleys of Munnar, one of the
world famous tourist hot spots in the Western Ghats. It was raised to the level
of a Forane Church on 20 th June 2020 with Fr.Sebastian Kochupurackal as the
parish priest and Fr. Jibi Umikkunnel as the assistant vicar.
